Ambassador Bernard LeclercRepublic of Vanuatu, is a Pacific island country located in the South Pacific Ocean.

The archipelago of 80 islands, which is of volcanic origin, with a total area of 12,189 km2 and shaped as an Y tilted to the left. Some 900 km separate the Torres Islands, in the north, from Anatom, in the south, is 1,750 kilometres (1,090 mi) east of northern Australia, 540 kilometres (340 mi) northeast of New Caledonia, east of New Guinea, southeast of the Solomon Islands, and west of Fiji.

The Economy of the Republic of Vanuatu, Based on Tourism, Green Wave, Finance Off-Shore

Ambassador Bernard LeclercTourism, despite the world-wide economic recession, represents a fast-growing sector, with a milestone of 100,000 visitors having been achieved in 2009. Most of them come from Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand.

The country is now well established as an attractive tourist destination and significant potential exists for rapid growth. Funds have been committed and the promotion and development of tourism continues to be actively encouraged.

Organisation des Nations Unies:

United NationsLe Secrétaire général des Nations Unies, M. Ban Ki-moon, a annoncé le 9 mars dernier la nomination de M. Stephen O’Brien, du Royaume-Uni, au poste de Secrétaire général adjoint aux affaires humanitaires et Coordonnateur des secours d’urgence (OCHA).

S.E M. L’Ambassadeur Bernard LECLERC qui était également Candidat et dont la candidature avait été pré sélectionnée félicite M.Stephen O’Brien pour sa nomination.

S.E reste toutefois comme a en pris bonne note le Cabinet du Secrétaire Général disponible pour toute autre fonction d’importance que le secrétaire général voudrait bien lui confier.

The General Secretary of United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon announced on the 9th March last year the nomination of Mr. Stephen O'Brian from the United Kingdom to the position Vice-General Secretary for Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

H. E Mr. Bernard LECLERC was also a candidate and his candidature was preselected, congratulates Mr. Stephen O'Brian for his nomination.

H. E rests however he got a good note for the Cabinet of General Secretary to take an other important position offered by the General Secretary.

Az Egyesült Nemzetek Főtitkára, Ban Ki-moon Úr tavaly március 9-én bejelentette Stephen O'Brian Úr kinevezését az Egyesült Királyságból a humanitárius ügyekért felelős helyettes főtitkári pozícióba (Humanitárius Ügyek Koordinációs Irodája, OCHA).

Őexellenciája Bernard LECLERC Nagykövet Úr, aki szinten jelölt volt, üdvözli Stephen O'Brian Úr kinevezését.

Őexellenciája mindamellett pozitív jelzést kapott a Főtitkári Kabinethez tartozó más fontos pozíció betöltésére, amit majd a Főtitkár rábíz.
